Reaching Out

These past few weeks things have settled down a bit. Now that we've got some players, it will be easier to generate a bit of excitement about them, do interviews, and really just start to get the community involved.

I've been working on a couple of projects that have to do with events and contacts. Reaching out to media outlets has been very important for the Beat, and I have used all the contact lists that I painstakingly created in the first few weeks I was here to talk to newspapers, radio, and television stations in the area. We've been trying to see if there are beat reporters for the Beat specifically, and just touch base with them to make sure all the press we receive in the community is going to be exactly what we'd like for it to be.

Another assignment I have here is the Street Team, which is kind of cool because it's my baby. Basically, since we're not really deep into the selling of tickets or anything of that sort, we have no money. We still need to get the word out to people, though, and the easiest solution to that is with volunteers! You would be amazed at how many people want to help us out. The Beat has really created a wonderful name for itself in the community, and people are already excited to be a part of our Beat family. I have lists and lists of people to contact and from those I will be creating a few "Beat Street Teams" with team leaders and all to go out and spread the word. Manpower!!

We are waiting on equipment to come in so we can man events like soccer tournaments in the area, and also to go to specific things like "Taste of Atlanta," where there will be a considerable number of people attending. Events like these are important for us to be at, since we can talk to the community, try and sell tickets, and just let people be aware of us.

I feel very lucky to be a part of such an exciting new development in women's soccer, and I really have gotten so much experience already in so many different aspects of this company. I can't wait to see what next week brings!
